More good news for UK film
by Simon Kiero Watson, Vice President
Just to echo my colleague Nevern Johns’ positive blog of a couple of days ago, I see that there is more good news for the British film industry coming out of the government’s Office for National Statistics.
In their latest quarterly report – available here:
The ONS say that the UK economy grew by 0.3% in the three months to June, with the film sector being the second largest contributor to this (behind retail trade), growing 8.2% compared to the previous quarter.
The report highlighted that growth in the UK film and publishing sector has “significantly outpaced” that in EU countries since early 2014, with film activities growing by 72.4% since Q1 2014, compared with only 8.5% across the EU.
